Federal Interface Services for Credentialing (FiSC)- Advancing Airport Security.


Aviation security issues and credentials at airports play an imperative role. Reports state that thousands of aviation worker records have had incomplete or inaccurate biographical information. The TSA and FBI are responsible for overseeing access control to vulnerable areas within airports, mainly by issuing credentials to correctly verified workers. The Federal Aviation Administration expresses that there are significant challenges to implementing better certificates for pilots. Hence, the legislative ordered the establishment of better credentials for pilots to avoid counterfeiting and develop the ability to use biometrics for identification.

Federal Interface Services for Credentialing (FiSC) includes iris biometrics and fingerprints for identification and record-keeping. FiSC services will be used in the verification of airport credential applicants. Also, candidates for employment at an airport or an airline must submit biographical information and fingerprints to be used in various security checks.

Biometric information is worthless if it is not usable. FiSC introduces improvements to the system to increase the quality of the data it receives from airports. These include greater adoption of biometric identity confirmation for credential issuance. It also presents several measures to help increase the performance of a biometric system, such as live detection to eliminate spoofing or phishing. 

FiSC services support the airport activity.
